As the UK’s leading manufacturer of steel faced, mineral wool-cored composite panel systems we are to launch our recently established Fire Engineering CPD (Continuing Professional Development) at this years RIBA Roadshow in London on November 12th at RIBA Headquarters.
The CPD, approved by the Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) is a significant progression in are aim to improve industry knowledge regarding the difference in fire performance and sustainability between the different types of composite wall panels.
Our Fire Engineering CPD offers an invaluable insight into recent changes to fire legislation and how they relate to specifying composite panels in the built environment. It is designed to guide participants through the changes to fire engineering, the move to fire risk assessment, LPS1181 and the performance difference of composite panel core types in relation to fire.
An important part of our Fire Engineering CPD focuses on the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) LPS 1181: 2003: Part1: Issue1. It is this accreditation that is often looked for and relied upon when assessing the contribution to fire growth of different composite panels. Our research has shown that many architects and specifiers are not aware that there are different grades to LPS 1181. Grade Ext-A, which satisfies the requirements for both fire resistance and reaction to fire and Ext-B, which satisfies reaction to fire only - despite this being a key differential when determining which composite panels to specify. Our CPD highlights the difference in the grades to minimise risk in every way, through design, installation and performance in use.
Provided by experienced representatives from within our organisation, this presentation can be classed under the CPD curriculum headings of “professional context”, and “construction skills”. Anyone interested in the presentation can request a copy via our website, here it is also possible to download a PDF of the accompanying literature.
