The panels not only satisfied stringent fire performance requirements, but also provided the facades with an impressively flat and lightweight appearance.

On the front and rear elevations the composite panels were installed onto a series of buttress-like protrusions, or ‘plant-ons’, each measuring over 40m from the ground to eaves level. These were supplied in Metallic silver to contrast with the rest of the cladding.

As the leading manufacturers of composite panels, we have gone to great lengths to develop a 15 metre long non-combustible Europanel Extra Rockwool core composite panel for the new Glamorgan Records Office in Cardiff. Leased from Cardiff University, the Records Office has been using various temporary storage measures, with differing degrees of risk to the records, since outgrowing its original accommodation 40 years ago.
