Supplying Panels for the Summitt

Supplying Panels for the Summitt

Taking nearly 3 years to complete at a cost of £8.4m, the new Snowdonia Café Summit, designed by architect Ray Hole has been officially opened for business.

Proudly standing 1,085m above sea level, the new centre has been designed to withstand the harsh torrent of extreme weather experienced at the top of Wales’ highest peak. Hafod Eyri, as it has been affectionately named, houses a café, shop and exhibition centre, providing welcomed relief for the hundreds of visitors set to walk through its doors over the coming months.

The building has incorporated a variety of locally sourced material throughout its constructions, including granite from Blaenau Ffestiniog and internal composite panels from Cardiff.

As a South Wales manufacturer, we were delighted when sub contractors Derek Campbell specified our internal Firemaster system within the construction of the new catering facilities at the summit. Offering the highest possible fire resistance thanks to their non combustible stone wool core, our Firemaster system were delicately transported to the site on a 100 year old steam engine, and expertly installed to present Snowdonia National Park with the reassurance of passive fire protection throughout the building.
