12th December, 2011
The UK risk engineering and property underwriting team of insurer HDI -Gerling were recently hosted for a training day at the Cardiff factory of Eurobond Laminates. The day included factory tours of the Eurobond continuous manufacturing line for stone wool core composite panels and the Rockwool factory in nearby Pencoed. There was also a seminar at which the Eurobond technical team briefed the risk engineers and underwriters on current issues, fire certification standards and the move to Euroclass system to classify fire performance of building materials.
During the seminar Darren Stewart, Eurobond Laminates Project Director said, "Risk Engineers and Property Underwriters are very important stakeholders when it comes to fire engineering design decisions. I welcome HDI-Gerling's commitment to work with specialist manufacturers such as Eurobond. Our shared aim is to ensure buildings have lower fire risk for the obvious financial benefits but above all to improve life safety."
Nell Moore, Head of Risk Engineering Services HDI-Gerling UK said, "It has been very valuable to actually see how fire protection products are manufactured and it has given us all a better understanding. I am sure it will help when advising clients on how to make sure their factories are well designed and built to best protect their assets."
